Report: Cgals Chamber Choir – Looking Back at 2024
Introduction The year 2024 was a remarkable one for the Cgals Chamber Choir, marked by dedication, growth, and outstanding musical achievements. Some members sadly left the choir due to work and school obligations, and new members joined. From our regular rehearsals to exhilarating concert performances, the choir remained committed to musical excellence and representing Namibia, and especially our coastal towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, with pride.
Rehearsals and Musical Development Throughout the year, the choir maintained a rigorous rehearsal schedule, focusing on vocal technique, harmony blending, and interpretation of diverse choral repertoire. Weekly rehearsals provided members with opportunities to refine their skills, explore new compositions, and strengthen ensemble unity. An excellent teambuilding weekend in Henties Bay 14 – 16 June formed one of the highlights of the year!
Concert Highlights The choir performed in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay and the Easter Concert (He is Risen), a popular concert in September and the annual Christmas concert were well received and appreciated by our loyal audiences.
Looking Ahead to 2025 As we move into 2025, the choir is preparing for an even more ambitious year, including participation in the Pan African Asian Games in St. Louis, Mauritius. Our focus remains on musical excellence, fundraising efforts, and strengthening our presence on the international choral scene.
Conclusion The year 2024 was a testament to the choir’s passion, perseverance, and artistic growth. The Cgals Chamber Choir remains committed to uplifting Namibian choral music and inspiring audiences. We extend our gratitude to our members, supporters, and the broader community for their unwavering encouragement.
